Penthouse 2024
Freelance - Cannes FRANCE
My First Solo Design Project
In collaboration with the client and a construction manager
-
For this project, I was asked to redesign the space in what the client described as a "metropolitan, minimalist luxury" style. Think of New York penthouses. However, I suggested drawing inspiration from the apartment’s location in Cannes as well, incorporating the natural hues of the sand, trees, and galets to subtly ground the design in its surroundings while still maintaining the refined essence of a New York penthouse.
One unique request from the client was the addition of a cactus garden next to the shower, introducing an intriguing contrast and adding a now subtle desert-like atmosphere to the entire design.
Initially, the client had planned to keep the design quite neutral, as he was considering selling the property after renovations. However, he has since decided to keep it, having grown attached to the space. As a result, we are now planning to infuse it with more character through carefully curated art, furniture, textiles, and personal elements, ensuring that the space evolves into something even more unique and expressive.

Stages of Design
This project marks the first time I carried a design all the way through to construction, providing me with invaluable insight into how my 3D concepts translate into the real world. After developing the 3D model, I produced detailed drawings for each wall and all custom-made elements. I am currently sourcing the materials, and later in the process, I will oversee the selection of furniture and decorative objects.
During this process, the builders, electricians and plombers where already set in motion. Giving me a great understanding of how they work and what they need from me to achieve my designs.
It was incredibly enriching to discuss with them and learn from their experience.
As part of the penthouse design, I also prepared the permit drawings required for the roof extension. Overall, this project has given me the opportunity to experience and conrtol every stage of the design process . From concept to execution. All luckily under the guidance of the construction manager when I needed a second look.
