Project Daintree 2023
University Project - Yorkshire UK
The Daintree Project was my Major Final Year Project. The brief was very conceptual in order to force us to be as creative as possible. It was set in the 2097 (based on the film 1987) where everyone got addicted to virtual reality and where a Monopole controlled everything, due to this, the end of the world was approaching but the resistance grew stronger in order to save our planet. We thus had to design something for the resistance on the ruins of Roche Abbey, and create the story behind who created this virtual reality, how live was like on our planet, who the resistance was, what they are fighting for and what would cause the end of the world. and how the resistance would save it thanks to a relic (we had a choice between several but I choose the tube amplifier).
So a lot to do !
Unfortunately this caused us not having the time to develop the interior of our buildings because of the lack of time. But it was very fun to create this entire world, and these buildings from zero ! really getting us out of our comfort zone and helping us explore new and unique ideas !

The Project also led me to create my own bio materials !

By the principle of using only what is availbale on site I decided to experiment with pine trees and how each element of the Pine could help me create different materials such as leather or plastic for instance. This also helps make the animals more comfortable because the whole building will have a familiar smell, not only the wooden structure but also all the soft furnishing and tools inside.
This was extremely fun and insightfull to do, after dozens of iterations I managed to find 4 materials that I was happy to us for my design ideas.
